DESCRIPTION:

Each of the authors of this book aid for general internist is a distinguished allergisr who not only is steeped in fundamental research into the mechanisms of atopic response but also has decades of experience in the management of allergic diseases. Both have spent countless hours preventing and treating the discomforts and threats of seasonal rhinitis, asthma, eczema, insect allergies, and life-threateing allergic emergencies. The idea for this book grew out of a series of workshops addressing common allergic problems encountered by internist that the authors gave at annual meetings of the American College of Physicians. After deciding on the subjects to be covered, the next task was to choose appropriate authors. The editors felt they should be 1 ) certified in internal medicine , 2) members of internal medicine departaments, and , most importantly, 3) in touch with the needs of the practicing internist.
