DESCRIPTION:

The American Acedemy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery Fundation and The American College of Physicians Society of Internal Medicine have joined forces to produce , the present book, which details the strategies currently being used to manage patients who suffer from diseases of the ear, nose, and throat..This book is designed to facilitate the treatment of these patients and to ease the communication between the specialties of internal medicine and otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. It is written not only for the internist in primary care but also for those in the medical subspecialities whose patients have diseases that involve the ears, nose, sinuses,  neck, and upper aerodigestive tract. Hopefully, this text willbe as valuable to the consulting internist in a tertiary care hospital as it will be to the solo primary care practitiner in small community. The authors also hope that it will particularly useful to internal medicine residents. Each chapter includes ilustrative figures, tabular information, case studies designed to highlight, key issues, and a list of suggested reading for readers who want additional information The editors have also included treatment algorithms that appear on the second page of most chapters. These are designed to be helpful in the management of otolaryngologic diseases.
