DESCRIPTION: This book was written to provide an accessible reference to the state of- th- art practice of rheumatology. The intended audience is practicing internist and medical subespecialist, but individuals at all leveles of medical training , will find this text useful. Although the clinical aspects of rheumatology are highlighted, special emphasis is aldo given to those current concepts of etiology and pathogenesis that are pertinent to the practical management of patients. This volume is broadly divided into eight sections. Basic principles of rheumatology are outlined first.including the general clinical appoach to rheumatic diseases, the immunology of rheumatological conditions , and the methodology behind evidence -based- rheumatology. Individual diseases are addressed in the next five sections. Wich, although by no means exhaustive, include the major diseases and syndromes relevant to most internist.
